Can the Obama's Help Save the Black Family?

Black love is a beautiful thing. Black love can be a powerful thing...Is it possible that our newly elected President and his beautiful wife may positively influence black marriages? I don't know about you, but I was touched (to the point of tears) as I watched Michelle join her husband as the newly elected President of the United States. In front of millions of people, they hugged; they kissed, they said, "I love you." Their public display of affection warms my heart and gives me hope. Through this journey we have witnessed the strength of their marriage, the intensity of their commitment, the passion in their partnership, the power of their presence. This black love reminded me that a woman can be stressed and strong, beautiful and intelligent, goal oriented and girly, to the point and on point, fashionable and affordable, motherly and sexy, daughter, and sister. This black love affirms that a man can be confident and a confidant, intimate and in tune, self assured and reassured, patient and powerful, cool and convincing. This black love represents what black marriages are, can be and could become. I am confident in Obama’s ability to bring about the much needed change this country needs. I am hopeful that the First Couple can serve in a capacity we so desperately need. Role models for how to get back to loving each other like we need to be loved. The First Couple can serve as a powerful example of what black love looks like. The First Couple can serve as a compelling reminder of how beautiful black love can be. Their relationship can serve as a blueprint for how to hold it down while holding each other up. I’m ready for sista’s and brothers to get back to loving each other the way we use to do. You know like Al Green, “Love and Happiness”. I mean like way back to Angela Winbush who “Learned to Respect the Power of Love”. I am striving to keep it “Solid” like Ashford & Simpson praying that we get to where we can hear you say… “Lean on Me” like Bill Withers. I am praying that Black Love grows strong and the duration of black marriages grows long. I am certain that black couples can go back to thinking of each other just two times a day…that’s day and night.

I’m just sayin’…black love is beautiful!

She's Back....

I am back. I am the sleepless super mom of a new baby boy who is not so new anymore but certainly cute as can be! Weighing in at 6lbs.7oz Aidan James arrived live and in living color on April 14th! Now weighing in at 15.5 lbs he and big brother are my daily dose of joy and sunshine.
I've been eager to get back to blogging and have perused many blogs lately but have now become motivated enough to get to typin'. Stay tuned, stay in touch!
